DeSean Jackson is “very excited about the opportunity” to play in Chip Kelly’s offense.

“I was looking at what he did at Oregon,” Jackson said. “My little cousin is actually De’Anthony Thomas, the Black Momba, so our styles are kind of similar. What he’s done in that offense as far as lighting it up and getting in that end zone, that’s what I’m excited about.” Thomas (5’9/173) scored 32 touchdowns in 27 games with the Ducks.

It will be interesting to see how Kelly schemes to get Jackson (5’10/175) into space. D-Jax does have 54 career rushing attempts.

***********************************************************************************************

Today was a very uplifting day for my family. I organized an event where my husband works—Penn Power Group. Every Christmas, the corporate area pitches in to buy their boss CFO Phil Fields a Christmas gift. This year, at the top of his wish list, was for everyone to chip in and make a donation to pancreatic cancer awareness. So I chose The DeSean Jackson Foundation.

And the reason being is that it is a very personalized organization. So I got into contact with DeSean who then in turn passed the info along to his mom Gayle Jackson who personally contacted me. I explained what Tom’s company wanted to do and asked if there was a way to set it up for DeSean to actually come and pick up the donation.

After many phone conversations with Gayle, we were able to set it up for Jan. 11. I was also able to get into contact with 6 ABC news who was interested in doing the story. It all came together perfectly.

And it felt like I had known DeSean Jackson forever. We both have a determination to bring more awareness of this horrible cancer. DeSean is a very well-grounded young man which shows he had a great upbringing by both his father and mother. As well as his brother Jay who was there with him and their cousin.

I believe together DeSean and I will start to bring more awareness around. It truly was an uplifting experience I believe for our whole family.

Penn Power Group donates $2,500 to DeSean Jackson Foundation

PHILADELPHA – January 11, 2013 (WPVI) — Penn Power Group, a Northeast Philadelphia company, has stepped up to support an employee who’s battling cancer, and in doing so, is helping one of the city’s best known professional athletes.

Philadelphia Eagles player DeSean Jackson received a belated Christmas gift of $2,500 Friday night.

Employees at Penn Power Group in Northeast Philadelphia are using their inner-office Pollyanna fund to support Jackson’s pancreatic cancer foundation while also supporting their co-worker of 23 years, Tom Seagraves. Seagraves was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in August.

“There’s just not enough awareness about pancreatic cancer out there,” said Dawn Seagraves.

Raising awareness is Dawn Seagrave’s mission. She says, for several months, doctors misdiagnosed her husband’s cancer as chronic back pain.

“I just happened to Google back pain that wasn’t alleviated by anything and the result came up pancreatic cancer,” said Dawn. It has been a long and difficult 5 months of intense treatment.

“I just talked to my doctors, and they are talking about full chemo for another two months,” said Tom Seagraves.

DeSean Jackson understands and respects Seagraves’ battle.

The football star lost his father to pancreatic cancer in 2009 after only 5 months of treatment.

“Just looking at him [Tom Seagraves] is really inspiring, because I can see him fighting. I can see that same look my dad had,” said DeSean Jackson.

Inspired by his father’s battle, Jackson stepped up to the frontlines and launched his cancer research foundation. It has also given him opportunities to bond with the community.

“The Seagraves’ son just made fun of me for my autograph, so I said sign on me. So Joshua added onto my tattoos,” said Jackson.

Beyond the check presentation, Jackson and the Seagraves say they plan to partner with one another on future projects and help spread the word about pancreatic cancer.
