DJACC’s Swagg Team at AGS Middle School, Fenton, MI, is all “swagged out” for their third annual Purple Out for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness. This year the entire Fenton Public School District will join AGS Middle and DeSean Jackson, of the Washington Redskins, in advocating for crucial funding for Pancreatic Cancer research and raising awareness.

“One Team, One Purpose“, states DeSean Jackson. Jackson is the CEO, of the DeSean Jackson Foundation, which was founded in 2009 when his father, Bill, died from Pancreatic Cancer five months after being diagnosed. “It is not about me, my family, the NFL today”, says Jackson, “it is about the students in Fenton Public Schools who are advocating for empathy, compassion and social change for those afflicted with Pancreatic Cancer and their loved ones. I am humbled and proud to have been chosen to be their national spokesperson.”

Andrew G. Schmidt Middle School, (“AGS”) School has partnered with The DeSean Jackson Foundation for three (3) consecutive years to develop, “Purple Out”, an initiative that raises awareness to Pancreatic Cancer and is advocating for the National Football League to acknowledge Pancreatic Cancer during the month of November and allowing each player to wear purple socks. The concept has been replicated in several schools across the nation.

AGS teachers Jill Smigielski and Susan Grove are the driving force behind this initiative which receives 100% participation from AGS Middle School administration, faculty and student population.
