##
This gridiron showdown between Members of Congress and the U.S. Capitol Police touch football squads enters its seventh installment this year. The game was established in 2005 for Congress to show gratitude and support to the men and women who protect them, the U.S. Capitol Police, and to support the families of their fallen.
##
To make it “a fair game,” former NFL players coach and play with the Congressional team. This year, NFL Alums Ken Harvey and John Booty will be coaching and playing again, joined by Gary Clark, Shawn Springs, Herschel Walker and Donna Wilkinson, of the DC Divas, who won the Women’s Football Alliance national championship in August.
##
DeSean Jackson, Washington Redskins’ all Pro wide receiver, and his mother, Gayle Jackson, President, of the DeSean Jackson Foundation, have graciously accepted our invitation to join us for the game. DeSean and Gayle Jackson will conduct the honorary coin toss at 7:20 pm; NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is also invited for the coin toss; and, we would love to have all of them representing professional football to Congress.
##
In addition, there will be a pre-game football clinic for DC youth with the NFL and USA Football (including youth from Boys & Girls Clubs, Special Olympics DC, KEEN, children of the Members of Congress). The free, one-hour clinic begins at 5:45 pm.
We hope you can join us on Oct. 28 with these NFL greats, Members of Congress, and the Capitol Police team in a bipartisan effort for great causes.
